1. The agreement
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your use of the CameraConnect mobile application and any related services (together, the "App"), published by CameraConnect ("we", "us"). Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use the App. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the App with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
2. Licence to use the App
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
You may not:
- copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the App;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
- remove or obscure any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice;
- circumvent, disable or interfere with any security, licensing or purchase verification feature.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App lawfully. In particular, you agree not to:
- connect to, control or transfer media from a camera you do not own or do not have permission to use;
- use the App to photograph or record anyone without the consent required where you are, or in any way that breaks privacy, surveillance or data-protection law;
- use the App to interfere with, probe or gain unauthorised access to any network or device;
- use the App in circumstances where failure could cause injury, loss of life or serious property or environmental damage.
You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you, including any rules on drone, aerial or public-space photography.
4. Camera compatibility
The App communicates with cameras using the wireless protocols their manufacturers implement. Those protocols vary between brands, between models and between firmware versions, and manufacturers can change or withdraw them at any time without notice.
We list the camera systems the App is designed to work with, and we test what we reasonably can. We do not, and cannot, promise that the App will work with every camera model, every firmware version or every feature of your camera. Support for a particular brand may cover media transfer only, without remote control or live view. If a feature is essential to you, please confirm it works with your own camera before purchasing a subscription — and contact us if it does not.
CameraConnect is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or certified by Sony, Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Leica or any other camera manufacturer. Their names and marks belong to them and are used here only to describe compatibility.
5. Subscriptions and payment
The App is free to download. Some features require CameraConnect Premium, an auto-renewing subscription sold as an in-app purchase.
- Prices and plans are shown in the App before you confirm a purchase, in your local currency. They may differ by country and may change for future billing periods.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trials. Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts into a paid subscription at the price shown.
- Managing your subscription. You can view, change or cancel your subscription in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device. We cannot cancel it for you.
- Restoring purchases. Use "Restore Premium" in the App's Settings screen to restore an active subscription on another device signed in with the same Apple ID.
6. Cancellation and refunds
Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until that period ends.
Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing here limits any statutory right of withdrawal or refund you have under the consumer law of your country.
7. Advertising
The free version of the App displays advertising, which helps keep it free. Ads are supplied by third-party networks, and we do not control or endorse the products advertised. An active Premium subscription removes advertising from the App. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.
8. Your content
Your photos, videos and edits are yours. We claim no ownership or licence over them, and they are not transmitted to us — transfers and grading happen between your camera and your device.
Because your files stay on your equipment, you are responsible for backing them up. Deleting the App, changing devices, or a failure of your device, camera or memory card may result in loss of data that we cannot recover for you. Do not treat the App as a backup.
9. Intellectual property
The App, including its software, design, artwork, colour look-up tables, text and the CameraConnect name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms grant you a licence to use the App — they do not transfer any ownership.
Third-party components included in the App remain subject to their own licences.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that the App will work with your specific camera, that connections will always succeed, or that every transfer will complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of photographs, video, data, profits, opportunities or goodwill — including a missed shot, a failed transfer, a corrupted file or a shutter that did not fire — arising out of or relating to the App.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is the case, the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the App. Sections that by their nature should survive — including sections 8 to 10 and 14 — survive termination.
12. Apple-specific terms
These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim that the App or your use of it infringes intellectual property rights, and for any product liability or legal-compliance claim relating to the App.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Changes to the App and to these terms
We may add, change or remove features, including support for particular camera brands, as protocols and platforms evolve. We may also update these Terms; the "last updated" date above shows the current version, and material changes will be signalled in the App or on this page. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the App and cancel any subscription.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which we are established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be subject to the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where that law gives you it.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
