Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026 · Applies to the CameraConnect app for iOS and iPadOS.
The short version.
Your photos and videos never reach us. They travel directly from your camera to your device over a local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection, and any editing happens on the device itself. We operate no image servers, and we have no way to see, copy or recover your pictures.
What we do collect is limited to anonymous usage and diagnostic data used to keep the app working, plus the purchase information needed to give you the subscription you paid for.

1. Who we are
CameraConnect ("CameraConnect", "we", "us") develops and publishes the CameraConnect mobile application (the "App"), which connects a phone or tablet to a digital camera over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in order to transfer media, release the shutter, control the camera and apply colour grading.
This policy explains what information the App handles, why, and what control you have over it. It covers the App only; it does not cover your camera manufacturer's own software or any website we link to.
For questions about this policy, contact us at binggu1996@gmail.com.
2. Your photos, videos and camera
This is the part most people want to know about, so we will be blunt about it:
- Photos and videos are transferred directly from your camera to your device over the camera's own Wi-Fi network or your local network. They do not pass through any server operated by us.
- We never upload, store, view or share your images. There is no cloud library, no backup and no sync in the App.
- Colour grading, thumbnails and previews are generated on your device using look-up tables that ship inside the App. Nothing is sent anywhere to be processed.
- Files are only written to your photo library when you explicitly choose to save or export them.
- Metadata inside your files — including any GPS coordinates your camera recorded — stays inside those files on your device. We do not read, extract or transmit it.
3. Information we collect
The App works without an account. You are never asked for your name, email address, postal address or phone number in order to use it. The information below is collected automatically, in a form that identifies a device or an installation rather than you personally.
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Usage & interaction data | Screens opened, features used (for example that a transfer or a connection attempt happened), session counts, app open events | Understanding which features are used, and where people get stuck |
| Device & app data | Device model, operating system version, app version, language, country, time zone | Compatibility, prioritising fixes, sizing releases |
| Diagnostic data | Error and stability events, performance measurements | Finding and fixing crashes and failures |
| Installation & anonymous identifiers | A Firebase installation ID, an app-instance ID, and an anonymous Firebase authentication ID generated on first launch | Grouping events from one installation, delivering the right remote configuration, and linking a subscription to an installation |
| Purchase data | Which product was purchased, whether a subscription is active, trial and renewal status, transaction identifiers, price and currency | Unlocking paid features, restoring purchases, and measuring revenue |
| Advertising data | Ad impressions and, only if you allow tracking, the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and Apple Search Ads attribution | Showing ads in the free version of the App |
We do not collect the contents of your photos, your camera's serial number, your contacts, your precise location, your health data, or your browsing on other apps and websites.
4. Information stored only on your device
Some information is saved locally so that the App is useful the second time you open it. It is never transmitted to us:
- Camera Wi-Fi credentials. The network name of a camera you have successfully connected to is stored in the App's local settings, and its password is stored in the iOS Keychain, so you do not have to retype it. Deleting the App removes them.
- Connection history. A local log of which cameras you connected to and when, used to show recent sessions and to help you troubleshoot.
- Diagnostic logs. Technical records of the camera protocol exchange, shown on the App's diagnostics screen. These stay on the device unless you choose to send them to us yourself by email.
- Preferences. Settings such as whether you have completed onboarding and your chosen camera brand.
5. iOS permissions we ask for
iOS asks your permission before the App can use certain capabilities. Each one is requested only when it is needed, and the App keeps working — with that feature unavailable — if you decline.
- Local Network. Required by iOS for the App to find and talk to your camera over Wi-Fi. Without it, transfers and remote control cannot work.
- Bluetooth. Used to connect to your camera or a compatible remote in order to release the shutter.
- Camera. Used solely to scan the Wi-Fi QR code displayed on your camera's screen so the App can join its network. No images from your device camera are stored or transmitted.
- Photo library (add). Used to save the photos and videos you choose to keep. The App requests add-only access; it does not need to read your existing library.
- App Tracking Transparency. If we ask, this is about personalised advertising only — see section 8. Choosing "Ask App Not to Track" does not limit any camera feature.
6. Why we process this data
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal bases are:
- Contract. Processing purchase and subscription data so we can provide the paid features you bought and restore them on your devices.
- Legitimate interests. Processing anonymous usage and diagnostic data to keep the App stable, secure and worth using, and to understand which features matter. We keep this data minimal and non-identifying.
- Consent. Personalised advertising and any use of the Apple Advertising Identifier, which happens only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. You can withdraw this at any time in iOS Settings.
- Legal obligation. Keeping records where tax, accounting or consumer law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law.
7. Service providers
We use a small number of established providers to run the App. Each receives only what it needs, and each is bound by its own privacy terms:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Installations, Authentication, Remote Config) — anonymous usage, device and diagnostic data, and the identifiers described above. Firebase privacy
- Google AdMob — serving ads in the free version of the App. How Google uses data
- Qonversion — subscription management, purchase validation and restoring purchases across your devices. Qonversion privacy
- Apple — the App Store handles the payment itself. We never see your payment card, and Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction. Apple privacy
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
8. Advertising and tracking
The free version of the App shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. If you have not allowed tracking, ads are served in a non-personalised form based only on coarse context such as your country.
If iOS asks for tracking permission and you allow it, the Apple Advertising Identifier may be used to personalise ads and to attribute installs from Apple Search Ads. You can change your mind at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device. Subscribing to CameraConnect Premium removes advertising from the App.
9. How long we keep data
- Analytics and diagnostic events are retained by our analytics provider on a rolling basis, generally for no more than 14 months, and then deleted or aggregated.
- Subscription records are kept for as long as your subscription is active and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Data stored on your device is kept until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent you previously gave, at any time;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because the App has no accounts, we usually cannot connect a request to a specific person on our own. To help us find your records, include your Firebase installation ID — shown at the bottom of the App's Settings screen — in your request. You can also:
- reset your advertising identifier or turn off tracking in iOS Settings;
- revoke Local Network, Bluetooth, Camera or Photos access in iOS Settings;
- delete the App, which removes all locally stored data.
Send requests to binggu1996@gmail.com. We will respond within the time your local law requires, and within 30 days wherever possible. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
11. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
Our service providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where data protection law requires it, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Security
Connections to our providers use encrypted transport. Camera Wi-Fi passwords are stored in the iOS Keychain rather than in plain settings. Connections to your camera use whatever protocol and encryption your camera itself supports, which is outside our control — a camera access point with a weak or absent password is only as private as the network it creates.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or from the App.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make that clear in the App or on this page before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
